BIOMARKER BREAKTHROUGH

For the first time in over 200 years, scientists have found a new way to help diagnose and track Parkinson’s disease using biology instead of just asking patients how they feel. Thanks in part to The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s landmark Parkinson’s Progressive Markers Initiative (PPMI) scientists can now study what’s happening inside the body at a cellular level to get a better understanding of the disease. This is a big step forward in helping doctors treat Parkinson’s more effectively.

As detailed in The Lancet Neurology, this is expected to transform drug development, clinical care, and precision medicine approaches, allowing the right therapy to be targeted to the right patient at the right time. Parkinson’s disease affects an estimated 7-10 million people worldwide, and this breakthrough offers hope for new therapies and improved clinical trials to treat and prevent the disease.

IsTrichloroethyleneaninvisiblecauseofParkinson’s?

Trichloroethylene (TCE). You cannot see it or smell it. It could be in the air you breath, the water you drink, and the food you eat. It is a carcinogen and is linked to clusters of cancer and Parkinson’s. In Journal of Parkinson’s Disease, Dr. Ray Dorsey at the University of Rochester and eleven colleagues have published a research article asking the question “Is Trichlorethylene an invisible cause of Parkinson’s?” The authors go on to make a convincing case.

Dr. Dorsey joins the podcast to explain the dangers of TCE, how it seeps into ground water, your home, schools, and office buildings, how to protect yourself, and where you can look to see if a TCE Superfund site is near where you live.

Creative studio of record

We’re not God, but we do believe that good design can lead to a spiritual experience.

With new brands being born nearly as often as new humans, the world has become increasingly averse to branding bullshit. Slick but skin deep brands aren’t nearly enough. We crave meaning and purpose, a brand with its own hopes and dreams. We want a brand with a soul.
